The future of retail is online and it’s now easier than ever for retailers to move online. Unfortunately, they often struggle with the real complexities and intricacies of employing data-driven marketing and actually growing their business. That’s why almost 95% of online retailers have less than $1000/year in sales. From ecommerce to social to retargeting and programmatic to localization, it’s overwhelming and it’s only getting more complex.

Vantage brings effortless Amazon-like data-driven marketing campaigns and capabilities to retailers in over 97 countries, helping them to act, react, and grow their business with the latest tools and technologies – and we’re just getting started!

Founded in 2013, Vantage is well funded and we are already enjoying early success, we are looking to expand the team and take it to the next level. Data Engineer

You’ll work on the big data pipeline for the Vantage platform. This involves collecting data from various commerce platform APIs, integrating tracking code for audience building and campaign conversion tracking, and ensuring that all of this data flows in a scalable way.

Our primary language is Python and our platform uses Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis, Postgres, Scikit-learn and more. Your role in managing the data pipeline will bring additional tools and technology into the stack at your discretion. You need to be hands-on but you’ll be leading projects and will have a significant say in how our platform evolves. You’ll be working closely with data scientists to use this data in predictive modeling, and with application developers on how it is visualized for end users.

Qualifications and Experience
• Ideally you’ll have some domain expertise in:
• Ecommerce (Magento, Shopify, BigCommerce, Hybris, Demandware, etc)
• Online ad platforms (Facebook, Google, etc.)
• Experience with Python, Scala/Java, JavaScript
• Production experience with ETL/pipeline tooling and data warehouse solutions
• Exposure to big data tools like RedShift, Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, Kafka. We don’t use all these but you need to have some experience working with this kind of tech.

Junior/Intermediate Full Stack Dev

You’ll be responsible for building features within Vantage, and building integrations with other systems. This means using lots of APIs to pull data, as well as building APIs for others to push data to Vantage. You’ll also work with our Insight Analysts to incorporate predictive and machine learning components into the application. Our primary language is Python but our platform also uses Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis, MySQL, Postgres, Scikit-learn and more. You’ll get a chance to learn the whole stack.

Qualifications and Experience
• Ad platform expertise (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
• AngularJS experience would be awesome, but at the very least you need to have built production systems using a JS framework like Ember, Backbone, etc.
• Some Python experience (can be in co-op terms/courses).
• You are a sponge and have a strong desire to learn everything about all the things as fast as possible. Must LOVE writing tests.

Data Scientist

We need data scientists who love digging into all kinds of data to uncover actionable insights. Building predictive models is awesome, but we take it to the next step to build tons of models programmatically. We have thousands of ecommerce stores on the platform already – we can’t build custom models for all of them so we need a configurable model factory. We want you to be a data scientist first, but we need you to be comfortable coding your own components in Python or R. We use Pandas, scikit-learn, and statsmodels heavily already and are adding other libraries as needed.

You’ll be responsible for the analytics roadmap, from concept to implementation, testing and rollout. We’ve got some great junior talent on this team already, and you’ll spend time mentoring and growing their skills. You’ll also be expected to work with customers on custom requests, questions about the platform and anything else they might need.

Qualifications and Experience
• 5+ years of hands on predictive modeling with at least some of it in the ecommerce space.
• Experience using languages like SAS, R, or Python for modeling and machine learning.
• Ability to guide and mentor our existing team.
• Willingness to learn Python and code modules/components yourself.
• Love of statistics bordering on healthy obsession.
